A Peaceful Home
We entered 2020 with an impeached president and now find ourselves in the falling action of a worldwide pandemic and the rising action of political and civil unrest. In short, what seems to the new normal for an election year in the United States of America.
If those facts weren’t enough on their own, all of this is pushed on us literally from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed. We are CONSUMING astronomically more content and information than any other generation in history. The AVERAGE American spends 10+ hours a day consuming content (watching, reading, listening, streaming and posting). That is well over half the time you are awake during the day! In a years time the average American is consuming more than 150 DAYS worth of information.
Not only do we consume more information than ever before we collectively are CREATING astronomically more content and information than ever before - 2.5 Quintillion bytes of data a DAY to be exact.

Now, you may be asking yourself, “What does this have to do with ‘A Peaceful Home.’”
We are so glad you asked!
You see, we believe that whatever you consume; whether it be tv, movies, social media, or even a book - that is ultimately what you are going to produce.
In our home we ask this simple question to help guide us in this area:
Am I spending more time with God or more time with media?
If your answer is, “I’m spending more time with media.” Then it’s time for you to seriously evaluate your priorities because the hard truth is, your views aren’t being shaped by the living Word of God, but by the media you are consuming.
And this is where it comes to your home… If you’re scrolling Instagram more than you personally are reading your Bible and if you’re watching Netflix more than you are praying then then God’s Word isn’t shaping you’re home - the media is.
One brings peace, the other causes anxiousness.
One brings comfort, the other causes turmoil.
One brings love, the other causes hate.
One brings clarity, the other causes confusion.
Here’s the reality, you will ALWAYS be able to find an excuse for why consuming media is “good” or at least neutral, but don’t fool yourself. Spending time with God in His Word and in prayer is the only way to bring true unshakable peace for yourself and ultimately your home.
Part of our daily prayer with our kids is first, that each of us would cary a peace within us that is evident to the world around us. Secondly, we pray that our home would be a place of supernatural peace for everyone who walks through our door. Something that you can only get from the presence of our God.
We know this was a roundabout way to get to the topic of “A Peaceful Home,” but we hope this spurs you on to ask the question, “Am I spending more e time with God or more time with media?”
